Ought to you quit your job to grow to be a full time real estate agent?

I really feel I am certified to answer this query. I’ve been in the genuine estate sales market considering that 2004 for 12 years.

Ought to you quit your job to turn out to be a complete time actual estate agent, my answer to that query is NOOOOO. It is not a good thought to quit your job to do actual estate complete time unless you have another supply of income to pay your bills, put food on your table and help fund your advertising and marketing campaigns.

I have been on each sides so listen to me. I started true estate part time and decided to go into it full time with no job and it was the most STRESSFUL issue ever. Since I counted on bargains to close and bargains don’t close right away. Some deals fall by means of and it utilized to send me into depression mode a lot more than usually.

I then got a job portion time at Verizon Wireless. The job, I didn’t like it but didn’t mind it. It helped me pay bills, place food in pocket and have a bit of a social life but most importantly it produced a level of sustainability. I had a clearer head when going into bargains.

As soon as I got a job offers started closing faster. I think since my mind was clearer and I wasn’t counting on the deal to spend my bills and when a deal fell by means of it didn’t send me in depression I was in a position to bounce back and go uncover and operate on a lot more bargains. I became more creative and really far more motivated to get far more deals and watch my bank account develop.

After I had enough deals coming in and a healthful savings for a year. I was capable to go into actual estate again complete time and much better than my first expertise.

So to sum this up do NOT go into true estate full time unless you have a stream of active income and or a healthful savings for a year or much more.

Ahead of I end this I want to say I am positive some individuals are saying it is tough to do actual estate even though I have a full time job. My answer to this is a time management issue on your finish. I have yet another video coming on how to do true estate element time even though you have a full time job. Verify the hyperlink under for that vid.

I hope this video helped if you have any concerns please comment beneath and I will answer them.

What tips you have for me? I’m getting my license but I’m currently working full time overnights. I have a family and a house of my own. I would like to start full time in real estate so I can learn as much as I can for my future. I wouldn’t want to leave my full time job but I really want to get started with my career as a real estate agent.

  3. So for someone who is still living with their parents and has essentially zero personal expenses( no college debt, no car bill/phone bill/rent/etc, has a credit card and about 1k saved), whats the excuse to not start real estate right? Because I just graduated Uni with 0 debt and want to give real estate a go just need to let my parents know lol

Hi Sheldon. Thank you for this video. I’m currently in RE school. But because of debt and average monthly bills I won’t be able to jump into RE full time. When I have mentioned that to agents that I have met they look at me like I’m crazy and seem to get really upset when I say I’m only going to be able to do it PT at first. I don’t understand how they think everyone has up to a years worth of bill money set aside so we can jump in and start a new career knowing that it can take months to get your first check! This video really encourages me to give it a go! How do you suggest we approach brokers about needing to start PT when we start looking for work? I’m ready and determined to be successful in the industry. My current career as a massage therapist of 17 yrs requires me to work late evenings and some weekends. I’m hoping to make this work. Thanks for your advice!

what did you do at verizon that allowed you to balance both? im a manager at vz and dont see it possible..

  6. Got my license January 29th 2016, I just started a new job this February. My ideal plan was to save for 6 months. Start doing real estate part time in July for a standard 6 months. Then around February 2017 go full time in real estate but I’ll see what are other options. I’m so anxious to start but want to be smart about it..

Very true I was part time for 2 years before transitioning to full time. Its weird at times because you have no good leads then all of a sudden everybody and their mama starts calling you then it falls off again. Very emotional .. but stick it out and keep pushing learn as much as you can oh and save for TAXES! geez

Sheldon, I just want to say thank you! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! For your transparency and honesty. A lot of already successful agents will swear up and down to you that you will make money faster and have a more successful career if you are not full-time from jump. While that may work for some, it doesn’t work for all. What they won’t tell you is that they had a savings, spousal support, or other resources to get the through the 6-12mo process of building their pipeline. The internet needs more positive and truthful folks like you to help them find their strength to know that we can take advantage of the lucrative business and remain level-headed at the same time.

    Awesome vid!

  11. Make Her Proud

I love that you kept it so real. I was literally thinking " no!" right before you actually said it lol. I’m actually attending a career house tonight. I’m interested in starting a new career that will challenge me, while i still work my current two jobs. Watching your video definitely gives inspiration and advice on how to gradually switch into this career.

  12. Spot on. This is exactly why I waited to retire from my job seven years ago and do real estate full-time as a second career. I’ve overcome SO many things I didn’t like about myself.

What kind of hours/days were you working at Verizon? I’m thinking of getting a part time job when I start real estate in January and I’m wondering what hours I can actually work with showings and and everything else agents have to do on the weekend…

  17. Cory Whittaker
